Eheh… Oops?

I just realized I wrote out like the first 400 words of chapter 8 a day or two ago. Maybe that shall appease my muse for the moment.

Go me?

•November 16, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Just finished spewing out chapter 7.. somehow. It ended on a sombre note, of which I am very happy. The novel was starting to get too happy, and I really need to start injecting some bad mood into this motherfucker. Because thats what it is. A motherfucker. Gah.

I’m at about 22k right now.. only 200 more words until 23k. Then I still need like 2k more before I can go to bed. I don’t know if I’ll make it that far though. I’ll try my damned hardest though. I really really need to get caught up on English homework because Im getting incredibly low low LOW marks. I need at least 70% in all of my classes to get into U of M and I’ve been really slacking lately. I’ll see if I can convince Jon on Saturday to work on it all with me. MUST CATCH UP. Because school is more important than NaNo. :\

Also, by far Chapter 6 is my longest novel 5343 words. Woot!

Crashing. Now. Hard.

I just spewed out about 5k and something words tonight. Honestly suprised. Would not want to do it again. Chapter 6 is at least double the previous chapters, but I think I’m going to split it in two after the scene break. Still debating on that.

They were never supposed to suggest Mary go and spy on Robert. Argh. It was supposed to be a suprise while the others widdled away the hours inside. *headdesk* Now I have to extend their stay inside the house for at least a few more days. Just for the tension and the boredom of it all. After that, I don’t have a fucking clue of what happens. Except for some drinking. Lots and lots of drinking and personality changes.

Ugh.. no more please…

So I topped out at 15k before crashing. I’ve really hit a writer’s block right now, and wrote I think like.. 400 words the entire weekend. I am so way behind and I don’t know if I can catch up. I virtually have no support at all and some days its just an effort to open up that word document. Parker and the gang are eternally stuck (well not really) in the kitchen, brooding on another death, that of a random newcomer who wasn’t even planned. Now I have to get past the new few days in the story of nothingness before Mary and Greg can report some good news. Then some more days of nothingness… and then I have literally nothing else to write. I figure I’m almost done “Act 1″ and the ending of my story, which is most of “Act 3″ is planned.. a bit.

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. NO MORE SLACKING! MUST GET CAUGHT UP!

Day Four

•November 4, 2007 • Leave a Comment

So, I didn’t write at all yesterday. And write now I’m catching up via Word Wars. Gods bless them, they’re a life saver. I’ve finished off Chapter 3 so far, and right now Im getting into the next scene with the town meeting. Except I have no idea how thats going to happen! ;_; I suppose I’ll just drag out some backstory.. but after that I have no idea what to do. I have to tackle the towns opinion on the zombie child sometime.

*sigh*

Day 2 – Oh god…

•November 3, 2007 • Leave a Comment

So.. I ended up with 1918 words today. Thats all of Chapter 2 (Parker’s short first person dialogue) and maybe about half of Chapter 3 so far. Chapter 3 is going to be pretty beast (I can’t believe I use that word now. Thanks Phil!) in terms of size I think, because I really don’t have an idea on how its going to end. Possibly at the end of the day after the town meeting when Parker goes to bed, get my word count up with a random dream sequence so I can throw in a few of those lines from the Overheard Dialogue thread on the NaNo forums. :D So its all just going to be on a day by day basis on whats going in. XD Wooo! Lots of fun!

I do have one piece of advice I think every writer needs to hold dear. “First Draft”. You write and you write and it’ll still be shit people. But thats why you go back AFTER its all done to fix it. But you can’t let yourself be scared of writing because you want it to be good the first time. Cause then you’ll never start at all.

“First Draft”, people. “First Draft”. *goes to collapse into sleep at 4:16 am*

(IshouldbewritingIshouldbewritingIshouldbewriting…)

Parker will only smoke a cigarette is she shares it with Mark.

Mark, when not being quiet, responds in rather animalistic.. terms? Like barked, growled, snorted, etc.

Mary likes being dusty. It reminds her of the old days. But she always makes sure to wash her hands.. a lot.

David, while he understands the gravity of the situation at hand, is still searching for an Xbox to play.

Second day – … Oops

So I did about 41 words in class, before I went to to the mall after school, came home, ate a bit… then fell asleep for 3 hours. >\ I was totally planning on starting at 7 like I did yesterday, but now its 9 and I have to rush before midnight! 4 hours: can I do it?!

Word count for the day: 41 words.

First day of NaNo

So I think the first day went pretty damn well, if I do say so myself. I met with my NaNo group right here in Winnipeg, and it was definately a weird but nice experience. I was pretty nervous but people were nice, and its so weird that there are so many different people from different walks of life, different ages, etc that are interested in writing to do this! Its crazy! I met a lot of people too. :D Even if I did forget a lot of names. XD

I also started my NaNo novel at the write-in, although before that while my mom was playing music, a wrote a little half-assed scene thing. Parker found an old CD that had some late 60s and 70s music on it (that my mom was playing), and it skips on a certain verse in the song. Where that goes, I dunno. I figure it’ll pop up later on in the novel.

Also, there will be a random plane crash, according to Patrick. Or there should be. Lol! Thanks Patrick. :)

I have about 2129 words so far, and I completed it BEFORE midnight, so I think I’m doing pretty damn well! Since the average per day should be about 1700, I completely with 429 extra words. :) Not a big cushion, but it should be good. Now I just need to motivate myself until the next write in, since I’m missing the Nov. 8th one for my grandfather’s birthday.

I also registered “A Zombie Story” as a title name on the NaNoWriMo website. So gooo me!

And now I’m off to research a bit on the FVZA website and the NaNo forums. Night all!
